A recent study by Pratiksha Chalke, Lead- GIS & Remote Sensing, Sustaina Greens LLP in collaboration with Dr. Pankaj Koparde, MIT-WPU highlighted a 34% decline in Pune’s carbon sequestration capacity over the last decade due to rapid urbanization and loss of green cover.
The findings emphasize the urgent need to protect urban hills, wetlands, and riverside ecosystems to strengthen climate resilience and sustainable city planning
