The kick-off meeting of the IEEE Standards Association | IEEE SA Industry Connection (IC) program on “Biodiversity-Safe Renewable Energy” was held in Vadodara, Gujarat, INDIA on 29th May 2026, Congratulations to Dr. Meenakshi Singh and Prof. Claudia Gutiérrez Antonio. and Ms. Pratiksha Chalke, who are leading this initiative. This is one of the most important challenges we need to address as the world pushes toward net-zero targets. It's equally critical to ensure biodiversity considerations are fully understood and to strike the right balance between implementing new technologies and protecting the environment. This program will bring together experts from industry, academia, regulatory bodies, and government agencies to develop pre-standard deliverables: identify gaps and needs for future standards, increase awareness in this critical space, and create framework recommendations to monitor the biodiversity impact of RE implementations that have been ignored till now
